We host many events at our Stowe Wedding Venue. Many of our clients who travel here for their Vermont Wedding live elsewhere and are hosting a destination wedding. It takes a lot of preparation by the venue to orchestrate a seamless and stress-free experience for clients who host destination weddings. Fortunately, this is something that we excel at and have hosted destination wedding venues from couples around the country and around the world. In the past year alone, we have hosted weddings that were booked by couples that never saw the venue prior to booking. These couples and families were from as far away as Chicago, Texas, Seattle, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Sweden and UK. We thank them for putting their trust in us. We would like to share some key items that we feel are instrumental to giving wedding clients a sense of comfort, confidence and trust when booking a destination venue. It is a leap of faith, but by asking some important questions, they can gain a sense of trust and confidence and reduce the risk of the venue failing to produce an epic event that flows seamlessly and stress free for the clients and their guests. So before you book your wedding venue, ask yourself how the potential venue addresses these issues discussed below. The more items your venue checks off, the easier you will rest knowing that you are making the right choice.
Location, Location, Location!
The simple detail of location can make or break your event. We chose our epic location based upon many factors. A major factor was the view offered. Creating memories to last a lifetime requires an stunning backdrop for your event. We still get goosebumps daily when looking out our window at the panoramic vistas of Mt Mansfield and the Green Mountains. The view from our 77 Acre Historic Farm immediately stole our hearts and we know it will do the same to yours. Especially now that we have added a great lawn, gardens, a vineyard and acres of wildflowers. Additionally, location addresses the proximity to quality accommodations and amenities for clients and the guests of their events. We are located 2 miles from Smugglers’ Notch Resort and the Wyndham Resort. We are another file miles from the Stowe Mountain Resort. We are actually closer to Stowe Mountain Resort than Stowe Village is. These resorts and the supporting hotels, golf courses, ski slopes and recreation opportunities guarantee a fun and engaging experience for you guest.
Dedicated On-Premise Catering with local, organic, farm to table, custom menus and a high end professional commercial kitchen to prepare it in and dedicated staffing.
When we first opened, we allowed couples to bring in their own choice of outside caterer. At best, it had mixed results. We had one or two caterers that did an acceptable job of quality catering and worthy service. However, as a venue who aims for world class quality and service at every event, outside catering was a complete disaster. To be honest, it is impossible for outside caterers to replicate the quality of food that is prepared on site. Food that is prepared elsewhere, sometimes days before, held in storage, transported and then reheated at the venue will never match meals that are cooked to order at the event in a professional kitchen equipped and staffed with the resident chef in mind. To raise the experience to the level we required, we assembled a world class catering team whose executive chef / owner who is married to Georgia Von Trapp (yes, of the Sound of Music family and that lodge in Stowe) and they have a 300 acres farm where we source much of our local, organic product. We are about as farm to fork as you can be. Dedicated staffing is just as important. We have resident chefs and service staff that know our venue and events inside and out. We have our own Director of Catering who ensures that the quality and service at our events meets or exceeds your expectations. She meets with clients and along with the chef, will create a custom menu to match your vision and budget.
Owners at Every Event
We, as the owners, have a burning desire for your event to be a overwhelming success. To that end, we are at every event in it’s entirety to ensure a stress-free and seamless experience. Some large may venues may have employees supervising events, but it is not the same as having owners whose reputation is forged at each event.
On-Premise Bar Services
We have a full liquor license which means you do not have to hire a bar service that is going to charge you for bar setup, glassware rental and bartenders. Additionally, if you are doing a DIY type of bar service at a venue without a liquor license, you are subject to liability should someone get in an accident or injured due to alcohol consumption at your event. We take all of those responsibilities and costs off of your shoulders and provide professional bar staff that is dedicated to our venue, Riedel crystal glassware and bar setup at no cost to you. We can even set up an outside bar adjacent to our great lawn and gardens in addition to our large, beautiful timber constructed bar inside. We have our own winery, where our sommelier owner crafts wines from classic regions in California and Europe. We standardly serve all of our wines at events (Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Rose, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. There are also some special addition wines like our current Napa Valley Cabernet). Is nice to have the option of serving all of these wines instead of having to chose one red and one white. These wines are available exclusively at our venue and are very well received. But we are also happy to curate a custom wine list from anywhere in the world. Additionally, we love to serve the craft beers, ciders and spirits that Vermont is famous for, while being flexible enough to source whatever may be your favorite libation.
Transparency goes hand in hand with us developing a trust with our clients. We often have clients come tour our venue, book another venue, then cancel that booking and come back to us because we were transparent and other venues apparently are not being totally forthcoming. For instance, we have had clients come back to us telling us that other venue were less expensive at first sight, but then they started to add on a lot of hidden costs. Make sure to ask about what other costs might be encounter to avoid this financial pitfall. At our venue, you are dealing directly with the owners, so it is much easier to have a transparent experience when there are no layers between the owners and the clients.
How responsive is the venue when your first contact them? It is our goal to be extremely responsive clients and we found that our clients truly appreciate this. It amazes me when potential clients come to us, “Wow, you were so responsive, other venue took days or weeks to respond”. If a venue is not responsive to initial inquires during the sales phase, what do you think will happen after the sale has been made? Even longer response times. In addition, when you communicate with us, you will be responded to by an owner, not an employee.
How willing is the venue to be flexible in allowing you to create the event that you envision? Our mission is to assist you in bring your vision to it’s fruition while making the experience stress-free and seamless. We are flexible and creative in our best to make things happen for you! Because we are flexible and you are dealing directly with ownership, your experience in working with us to create the event you envision will be virtually free of stress. We are flexible on many levels, including our custom menu development for both catering and bar. There is flexibility in the scheduling of events. Flexibility in using our recommendations for preferred vendors or using your own choices. Either way, we are willing to provide input and guidance as to what will make your event the best it can possibly be.
Reviews are one way to gain confidence when booking. But it is important to consider the source of the reviews. We encourage you to look for reviews from sources that verify that the review was actually submitted by a client. Wedding Wire is one such source of verified reviews.
And our verified clients have reviewed us so highly that we have been considered as being amongst the top 5% of wedding venues for every year that we have been in existence. Sources that do not verify reviews wind up having false reviews being placed by friends and family of businesses on the positive end or by the competition on the negative end. Such unreliable sources are Facebook, Google and Yelp. They allow anyone to post reviews and make it difficult to impossible to get false reviews removed.
Purpose Built Venue with the details required
Our venue was purpose built for weddings and events. Starting from scratch allowed us to include the details that wanted to provide for clients’ events. This would have been difficult to impossible if we were to have converted a dairy barn. Some the details include: radiant in-floor heating, air-conditioning, house sound system with wireless mic, gorgeous bridal suite in loft, full on premise hi-end professional commercial kitchen, flooded with natural light as well an high end lighting fixtures, wood floors throughout, high end bathrooms, beautiful custom timber built bar, exclusive original artwork throughout venue, outdoor covered patio lounge, the great lawn with 70,000 square feet of lawn for lawn games and outdoor activities, vineyard, gardens and acres of stunning wildflowers bordering the great lawn. We built this venue modern in the sense of wanting to include the details and amenities we desired for our guests. However, we wanted the venue to fit the vernacular of our Vermont surroundings. The end result is an, elegant, high end wedding and event venue with all the modern amenities that is disguised as a barn. And do not underestimate the power of having heat and air-conditioning. It makes all the difference for the comfort of your guests. With one of our owners being an artist, it was important the venue was also built with a sense of purpose on the design end. The vision was a bright space with a stunningly elegant neutral color palette. We have accomplished flooding the venue with natural light with walls of glass, windows, doors and skylights. Additionally, we did want obstructed views, either in the venue or from the venue towards the great lawn, gardens, wildflowers and mountains. Having attended weddings and events at venues that were dark and had posts and wall everywhere, we wanted to breath some new life into the idea of a Vermont Wedding Barn. We have created a new vision for today’s more modern Vermont Bride.
Go with your Heart and Fall in Love!
Does the venue and it’s location make your heart go all a flutter? You should fall in love with the venue you are choosing to celebrate the marriage that will last a lifetime. We fell in love with this location the moment we set eyes on it and immediately had a vision of what we wanted to create here. We have brought that vision to it’s fruition and would love to share it with you. But we do not rest on our laurels. In addition to the beauty of what we have created, we go all out to make your big day the best event possible!
