Catering at The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch is a service we take great pride in. A custom menu is created for each event to match the vision and budget of each client. No two clients have the same expectations for their special event, therefore we listen to the vision of our clients and work together to develop a custom menu that matches that vision.
The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch is the latest venture from husband and wife team, Steve and Jennifer. Steve is a Sommelier and is in the process of completing his Diploma with Wine and Sprits Education Trust and has complete the French Wine Scholar program. Jennifer has been classically trained at a cooking school in Florence, Italy. Steve and Jennifer formerly lived in Tuscany, Italy where they renovated a 14th Century Monastery and turned into an “agriturismo” with 8 rental apartments in the converted Villa. We hosted guests on holiday as well as weddings and other events. We even grew and produced our own olive oil.
The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch is a continuation of our experiences at our Tuscan Agriturismo.
We have built a high end, professional commercial kitchen that is on site at The Barn. There are other wedding venues with rustic kitchens for warming food that was prepared elsewhere. That was not our vision. Our expectations for only the best quality and service led us to make the huge investment required to build a state of the art kitchen on site so all catering could be prepared on site. We wanted all catering at our venue to be prepared on site and to avoid meals being prepared elsewhere and then re-heated at our venue. This alone has a huge positive impact on the success of your event.
We have assembled a catering team that is World Class. The leaders in the kitchen are Owner Chef Joey Nagy and his team of Executive Chefs. These Chefs have decades of experience and we are honored to have them as part of our team. Joey is married to Georgia Von Trapp and together they own a 300 acre farm in Vermont where we source the majority of our products to create your meals: The Ultimate Farm to Table experience. Although there is plenty of culinary genius to go around, our chefs love to engage guests with fun and interactive experiences such as stations, goat and pig roasts, smokers, raw & sushi bars and most anything you can imagine. Haute cuisine with a fun flair! Our team loves to create unique experiences, so please do not be afraid to ask.

We can provide any style of service you desire. (i.e. Family Style, Plated, Stations, Buffet)
We provide all staffing for bar and catering. All set up of reception, as well as clean up is done by our staff.
All pricing for catering, as well as menu development is done by collaboration between our director of catering and our clients. Our DOC, Kristin, will meet with our clients and listen to their vision and available budget. Based upon those meetings with our clients, Kristin will develop a menu and pricing for you. Kristin is wonderfully talented and is an integral part of creating your event.
We also offer tastings of your menu prior to the event.

In line with Vermont's rich agricultural tradition, we are often the producers of the ingredients that go into what we create. Our Chef-Owner, Joey Nagy and his partner, Georgia von Trapp, are the owners of Marble Hill Farm. With over 300 acres, much of the seasonal produce is grown directly on the farm, as is free-range poultry and beef. We are committed to brining you the best, from seed to plate.
